St. Michael's Church in Hamburg
The main church of St Michael's in Hamburg, better known as the "Hamburger Michel", received a modern sound reinforcement system for maximum speech intelligibility and the best sound quality. The aim was to fulfil the acoustic requirements for devotions, concerts and cultural events.
A further focus was on integrating the system into the listed church building in a way that complied with the preservation order. The choice fell, among other things, on the use of active line source speakers from the Pan Beam series with beam steering, which not only ensure directional radiation, but - thanks to the aluminium speaker housing - do not introduce any additional fire load into the listed building.
Another advantage is that the active Pan Beam systems do not require a fan, which is particularly beneficial for classical concerts as the speakers do not generate any annoying noise. The loudspeakers also blend harmoniously and unobtrusively into the overall historical appearance of the church.
