Technical modernization of the sound reinforcement system in Magdeburg Cathedral

The Cathedral of St. Mauritius and St. Catherine in Magdeburg relies on a sound reinforcement system from Pan Acoustics for the transmission of speech. The special feature: The spoken word and the singing of the congregation are reproduced via one and the same system during the service, but at the same time it can also be used for voice alerting in case of emergency. Thanks to intelligible announcements, the system significantly supports the safe evacuation of churchgoers when things get dicey.

One of the greatest challenges in the project was the requirement to protect historic monuments: the building fabric was to be interfered with as little as possible. The solution was found in the use of active loudspeakers from the Pan 2-Line series, which transmit audio data, supply voltage and control data via two-wire network technology.
